The Da Nang Red Cross Society on Thursday launched the Humanitarian Month 2022 in the build up to the World Red Cross and Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8).

With the theme ‘Connecting the community, spreading acts of kindness’, the Humanitarian Month 2022 will start from May 1.

During the month, the Da Nang Red Cross Society and its chapters at grassroots level strive to raise around VND8 billion in donations from generous philanthropists to help 15,000 needy people.

Specifically, the focus will be on carrying out 10 humanitarian projects, helping 1,000 humanitarian addresses, providing packages of food for nearly 1,100 pandemic-affected families, and implementing the ‘Zero dong meals’ programme.

Also at the launching ceremony, the Da Nang Red Cross Society signed humanitarian cooperation programmes in 2022 with 6 State agencies and units in the city, as well as received cash and in-kind donations from a number of city-based businesses.
