In the first half of 2022, the Da Nang War Veterans' Association raised funds from domestic generous philanthropists to present 5,885 gifts, worth more than VND2 billion in total, for its members in difficult circumstances.

Also, heed was paid to building three ‘comradeship’ houses, totalling VND230 million, donating 35 bicycles to children of poor families, and helping 13 members living in very difficult circumstances.

The Associations’ chapters at all levels gave gifts to 1,275 young people joining this year’s military service, 48 of them were children of ex-soldiers and war veterans.

The information was released by the municipal War Veterans' Association at a Thursday meeting to review its performance over the first six months of the year, and identify new tasks for the remaining months.

For the rest of the year, the Association will launch an emulation movement to welcome the Congresses of the Da Nang War Veterans’ Association and the Viet Nam War Veterans’ Association for the 2022-2027 term.

Importance will be attached to promoting traditional education for younger generations, enhancing the efficiency of poverty alleviation programmes for local war veterans, and strengthening the development of enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups and farms owned by war veterans.
