Delivering a speech at the inauguration ceremony, Japanese Consul General Yakabe Yoshinori remarked the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang was established on January 1, 2022, just after 2 years of setting up the Consulate Office of Japan in Da Nang, marking an important and unprecedented milestone in the history of Japan.

This showed the significance of Da Nang, and Central Viet Nam as a whole, to Japan. Currently, nearly 300 Japanese-invested companies are operating in Da Nang and neighbouring provinces, noted Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori.

Consul General Yakabe Yoshinori emphasised that the opening of the new Japanese diplomatic base in Da Nang will contribute to lifting the diplomatic ties between Japan and Da Nang, and Central Viet Nam as a whole, to a new level.

On behalf of Da Nang’s leaders, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son congratulated staff of Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang on the opening of their new Japanese diplomatic base, which is highly expected to further boost the time-honoured strategic bilateral relationships with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, in the time to come.

Vice Chairman Son also expressed his delight at the rapid and comprehensive development of the bilateral cooperation relationship with Japan over the past years.

Up to now, Da Nang has established friendly relations and official cooperation with four Japanese localities namely Kisarazu, Sakai, Yokohama and Kawasaki, informed Mr. Son.

The bilateral trade and investment relations between Da Nang and Japanese enterprises have always recorded rapid grown at a high rate. Currently, Japan is the largest source of foreign direct investment into the city with more than 215 projects, totalling up to US$900 million. Japanese-invested projects significantly contribute to the city's progress.

The city leader believed that the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang will continue to act as a bridge to promote the friendship, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange activities between Da Nang and Japanese localities in the time ahead.
