Building East Sea into a sea of peace
The 14th international scientific conference on the East Sea entitled ‘Sea of Peace - Sustainable Recovery’ wrapped up in Da Nang on Thursday.
Hosted by the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV), the event attracted the in-person attendance of over 220 delegates and the virtual participation of more than 250 others.
The two-day conference featured one introductory and eight discussion sessions, with nearly 40 papers, and more than 160 comments and questions.
In her speech at the closing ceremony of the conference, Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam Pham Lan Dung highly appreciated the active and enthusiastic participation of online and face-to-face delegates and the quality of the discussion sessions.
She added that East Sea is not a closed sea but plays a central role, connecting the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The East Sea is facing many changes and challenges from the general situation of the world and the region.
She, therefore, underlined the necessity for the regional and international communities to further commit to international law, ensure the rule of law and trust in multilateral cooperation channels, and be flexible and creative regarding cooperation mechanisms in different fields and spaces in order to build the East Sea into a sea of peace, thereby helping countries focus on sustainable recovery in the coming time.
