Da Nang beefs up cooperation with Cambodian localities

Both Viet Nam and Cambodia boast great potential and strengths to boost their cooperation in vaious aspects.

The statement was made by Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary and Municipal People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet during his Monday reception for a delegation from the Senate of Cambodia, led by Senator Mean Som An who is Chairwoman of the Committee on Health, Social Affairs, Skills Restoration, Youth, Labour, Vocational Training and Women's Work.

Mr Triet briefed his Cambodian guests on the city’s socio-economic achievements, and its advantages, potential and strengths.

He remarked that the city was focusing on 5 key areas: high-quality service tourism associated with resort real estate; sea ​​economy and seaport associated with logistics services; high-tech industry associated with electronics and telecommunications; information technology in association with digital technology, and high-tech agriculture associated with high-quality fishery products

Mr. Triet took the opportunity to ask for support from the Cambodian government to soon reopen the Da Nang - Siem Reap air route which has been interrupted due to the impact of COVID-19 in order to promote tourism development between Viet Nam and Cambodia in general, as well as facilitate the exchange of international visitors, and strengthen cooperation relations between Da Nang and Cambodian localities in particular.

Senator Mean Som An, for her part, thanked the city leaders for the warm welcome and expressed her impression on the city’s rapid growth in recent years.

She added 2022 was a particularly important year for both Viet Nam and Cambodia when the two countries have joined efforts to organise many meaningful celebrations of the Viet Nam - Cambodia Friendship Year and the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic ties (June 24). She affirmed that Cambodia will continue to beef up cooperation with Viet Nam, including Da Nang, in spheres of mutual interest.

Senator Mean Som An agreed to promote the resumption of flights between Da Nang and Siem Reap to further strengthen cooperation in tourism between Viet Nam and Cambodia in the time to come.
