Get-together in Da Nang for retired senior military officers
The Da Nang authorities held a get-together in Da Nang on Wednesday for over 2,000 retired senior military officers who are now living in the city on the occasion of the 78th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People’s Army and the 33rd anniversary of the Whole People’s Defence Festival Day (December 22). These military officers are either colonels or senior lieutenant colonels.

In his remarks at the get-together, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang highly lauded the city-based armed forces, especially the retirees, for their great devotion to the city’s construction and development over recent years. He hoped that today’s generations of officers and men will continue to promote the heroic tradition of the army and make every effort to build stronger agencies and units, and meet the requirements of national construction and defence in the new situation.
He underlined that after two years of COVID-19, the city's armed forces will continue to pioneer and take the lead in natural disaster mitigation and control work. Local officers and soldiers did not mind difficulties, immersing themselves in rain and floods to help local overcome consequences of natural disasters.
The city leader briefed the retirees on the city’s socio-economic tasks and goals set for 2023, hoping that they will be actively involved in local patriotic emulation movements and continue their efforts for the city's growth in the years ahead.
On the occasion, under the authorisation of the State President, Secretary Quang presented first, second and third-class Fatherland Defence Orders to 10 individuals who were leaders and commanders of the city-based military agencies. The granting was in recognition of their active involvement in strengthening the performance of the Viet Nam People’s Army, guaranteeing national defence, and bolstering the cause of the socialist construction, protection, and progress of the Fatherland.
