State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai on Saturday attended a get-together for retirees who were the former leaders of the Quang Nam - Da Nang authorities and then worked in Quang Nam Proving after 1997.

Addressing the meeting, President Phuc emphasised that, when the former Quang Nam - Da Nang Province was separated into Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province, about 2,000 public officials left Da Nang for Quang Nam for their assigned work.

These former leaders from Da Nang to Quang Nam made strong dedications and took many initiatives in developing the neighbouring province step by step.

Till date, Quang Nam has made great strides, being one of the first 12 provinces with the largest budget revenue in the country. The average GRDP has increased 40 times and the State budget revenue has gone up 280 times compared to the time when the province was re-established.

Meanwhile, Da Nang achieved very fast growth, becoming a dynamic, modern and livable city in Viet Nam.

According to President Phuc, it is impressive that Quang Nam Province and Da Nang still maintain a strong relationship, solidarity, coordination in construction of many projects, support for each other in the heed to social policy beneficiaries as well as preserving the culture of Quang.

“Da Nang and Quang Nam Province should continue to make more socio-economic development strides, worthy of the title of the heroic Quang land, continue to pay attention to and care for the life of retired cadres. The retired cadres are recommended to promote the spirit of the Quang people, set bright examples and educate younger generations to about patriotism and make useful contributions to the community”, said State President Phuc.

On behalf of the Da Nang leaders, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang said, “Despite taking a job in Quang Nam Province, the retired officials stilled shown their strong support for Da Nang”.

He hoped that, in the coming time, they will continue to pay attention to accompanying and supporting the government and people of Da Nang to continue to develop in accordance with the spirit of the Resolution. 43-NQ/TW adopted by the Politburo on Da Nang’s construction and development by 2023, with a vision towards 2045.
