Get-together in Da Nang for ex-soldiers of Special Force

A get-together for former officials and ex-soldiers of the Da Nang Special Force took place in the city on Wednesday to mark the 48th anniversary of Liberation of Da Nang.

In his remarks at the event, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang reviewed heroic history of local armed force and residents in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.

He remarked that the glorious victories of the army and people of the whole country in general, and the Quang Nam - Da Nang area in particular, were partly attributed to great contributions made by the city’s Special Force.

Secretary Quang took the opportunity to express his deep gratitude to heroes and martyrs in general, officers and soldiers of Da Nang’s self-defence - special forces in particular, who sacrificed their lives for national peace, independence, freedom and happiness.

The city Party chief hoped that all officers and soldiers living in the city will continue to promote the heroic tradition and strive to overcome difficulties in order to actively contribute to the city’s development, as well as educate young generations about revolutionary traditions.

According to Hero of the People's Armed Forces Pham Kieu Da who is Head of the Traditional Liaison Department of the Da Nang Special Force, during the anti-French and anti-American resistance wars, the Special Force Le Do 1 and 2 joined nearly 1,200 large and small-scale battles, killed thousands of enemies, and destroyed more than 250 military vehicles of all kinds.
