Da Nang Deputy Secretary presents gifts to children on their special day
On Thursday morning, Da Nang Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet visited and presented gifts to children being cared for at the Village of Hope in Thanh Khe District, the Da Nang Centre for Inclusive Education Development Support in Lien Chieu District, and the SOS Children's Village in Ngu Hanh Son District, on the occasion of International Children’s Day (June 1).

Deputy Secretary Triet praised the centres’ staff for wholeheartedly educating and caring for the children there over recent years. He affirmed that these results contributed to creating an education, care, nurturing, rehabilitation, vocational training and integration environment for children with special circumstances. This promoted the position and role in performing social work, and supporting children with special difficult circumstances.

He vowed that the city authorities will create the most favourable conditions for the villages and the centre in a bid to support disadvantaged children and provide the best possible care for them.
He advised the children to continue their efforts to study and overcome difficult circumstances in order to become good citizens for society in the future, hereby contributing to the development of the city.

Established in 1993, the Village of Hope is under the management of the Da Nang Association for Supporting Disadvantaged Women and Children. It is now bringing up 115 orphaned and disabled children aged between 6 and 18, who were in extremely difficult circumstances, citywide.
The Da Nang Centre for Inclusive Education Development Support was established in 2017. Currently, it is caring for and educating 257 visually impaired, hearing impaired and autistic children, and those with cerebral palsy. At the centre, the children can learn culture, skills and gifted subjects such as communication skills, sign language, music and drawing.
Inaugurated in 1994, the SOS Children's Village has 16 family houses named after 16 flowers. Each house has a mother raising from 6 to 8 children. Currently, this place is nurturing 106 children. Since its establishment, the village has brought up more than 400 children, including 350 have grown up and integrated into society.
