Da Nang, Japanese localities look for more cooperation opportunities

During his reception on Monday for Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Yamada Takio, Da Nang People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh remarked that 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic ties. He, therefore, revealed that Da Nang planned to organise the Viet Nam-Japan cultural exchange festival from July 13 - 16. This will be an important and meaningful event that contributes to deepening the bilateral relationships between the two countries.

The city leader added, on July 1, Japan’s Mikazuki Group will inaugurate a pedestrian overpass across Nguyen Tat Thanh Street which is considered to be a symbol of the friendship between Japan and Viet Nam in general, and Da Nang and Japanese localities in particular.

The host took the opportunity to invite the Japanese diplomat to attend some upcoming important events in the city, and ask for his help to connect Japanese artistes to attend and perform at the forthcoming Viet Nam - Japan cultural exchange festival.

Mr. Chinh noted that the resumption of the Da Nang - Narita air route on March 26 created favourable conditions for Da Nang and its Japanese partners to promote investment, trade, tourism, cultural exchange and education.

He asked for support from Mr. Yamada Takio and Japanese Consul General in Da Nang to boost the reopening of the Da Nang - Osaka and Da Nang - Wakayama air services, as well as encourage more Japanese businesses to visit and invest in Da Nang in the time to come.

Regarding the selection of investors for the Lien Chieu Port Project, Chairman Chinh hoped that the Japanese Ambassador will introduce more investors and large corporations from his country to explore investment opportunities in the city’s Lien Chieu Port Project.

In reply, Mr. Yamada Takio thanked the city for creating all favourable conditions for the Japanese group to build the Viet Nam - Japan Friendship Bridge. He pledged that the Japanese Embassy in Viet Nam and the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang are willing to coordinate and support the city in organising the upcoming Viet Nam - Japan Cultural Exchange Festival.

The Japanese guest shared that over the past time, Japan’s Mikazuki Group has organisd many cultural exchange activities between Japan and Viet Nam, expressing his belief that Da Nang will be an attractive destination for Japanese citizens in the years ahead.
