Da Nang Party chief offers incense in memory of heroes and martyrs
On Tuesday morning, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang, along with representatives of local departments and agencies, laid wreaths and offered incense to pay tribute to fallen soldiers and heroic Vietnamese mothers at the Dien Ban Martyrs’ Cemetery, the Monument for heroes and martyrs and 96 martyrs of Hai Da Battalion 76, the Victory Monument for Battalion No.3 and 44 Quang Da Front, and Memorial Stele for martyrs of the Da Nang Citadel (Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province) on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

Secretary Quang and the participants observed a minute’s silence to pay their respects to late President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s re-unification.
It is known that during the patriotic war, Dien Ban Town had more than 19,000 outstanding children who died for national independence, and nearly 5,600 martyrs were gathered at the Dien Ban Martyrs’ Cemetery. In the struggle for of national liberation, hundreds of soldiers from Da Nang sacrificed their lives right on the Quang Nam - Da Nang homeland.
The temple commemorates 96 martyrs from Hai Phong City who laid down their lives in Go Noi (Dien Ban Town) for the nation's re-unification during the 1973-1974 period.
During the programme, Da Nang Party chief Quang and the delegation visited the memorial house of heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi located in Dien Thang Bac Commune, Dien Ban Town, and the family of heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Thu in Dien Thang Trung Commune, Dien Ban Town.

Also on the same day, Secretary Quang laid wreaths and offered incense in memory of heroes and martyrs at the Le Son Fortress Victory Monument in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District and the B1 Hong Phuoc revolutionary base in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District.
The Le Son Fortress Victory Monument records the glorious victory more than 70 years ago of Battalion 59 of Regiment 803 of the main army of Inter-zone 5 and the people of Hoa Tien and Hoa Khuong communes in Hoa Vang District in the resistance war against the French colonialists.
Hong Phuoc (given the secret code name B1) was one of the city’s most important revolutionary bases during the 2 past resistance wars against the French colonialists and the US imperialists. In the resistance war against the US, Hong Phuoc Village was home to 64 families, and together they dug 46 secret shelters for use as hiding places for Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers. The villagers made great efforts to help Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers fight against the enemy, and win numerous resounding battles.

On the occasion, Secretary Quang visited and presented gifts to workers who were building the memorial stele for martyrs of Battalion No. 3, 44 Quang Da Front, in Dien Tho Commune, Dien Ban Town.
The work shows the deep gratitude of the Party Committee, authorities and people of Da Nang, Quang Nam Province, Dien Ban Town and Dien Tho Commune for the martyrs of the Battalion No.3, 44 Quang Da Front.
