Da Nang, Finland promote cooperation in wood industry

Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh hosted a reception for Finnish Ambassador to Viet Nam Keijo Norvanto on Monday, during which he informed his guest that the city is focusing on investing in economic technical infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, education, especially improving the quality of human resources.

He, therefore, added that the city is prioritising attracting investment in such aspects as information technology, high-tech industry, innovative startups, seaports, airports, tourism, and logistics services.

Chairman Chinh took the occasion to ask for support from the Finnish diplomat to introduce localities sharing similarities with Da Nang, and potential investors with strengths in the fields in which Da Nang is attracting investment.

“We are committed to fully supporting and creating all conditions for Finnish investors to explore investment opportunities in Da Nang in the time to come” the Da Nang leader emphasised.

For his part, Finnish Ambassador Keijo Norvanto noted that this was the third time he had visited Da Nang, expressing his impression on Da Nang's remarkable development achievements, especially in the tourism industry with many unique activities.

The guest introduced Finland's strengths in developing the forestry industry as it has the largest forest cover area in Europe. Stating that Da Nang has a good strategic position in the development of agriculture and wood transit, he proposed to cooperate with the central coastal city in developing the forestry industry, and wood furniture production and processing.

In addition, Ambassador Keijo Norvanto showed his keen interest in the city's five key economic sectors: tourism services, seaports and airports, high-tech industry, high-tech agriculture, and information technology.

With his role, the Finnish guest pledges to act as a bridge to call on more businesses from his country to invest in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole. He hoped that businesses and people of the two countries will enhance cooperation and exchange activities in many fields in the near future.

During his working trip to Da Nang, Ambassador Keijo Norvanto will pay a visit to the Viet Nam Forestry Corporation (Vinafor) based in Da Nang to learn about the conditions for cooperation in developing the forestry industry with the city in the years ahead.
