Over VND57 billion goes to support children with heart complaints
The Da Nang Association for Supporting Poor and Disadvantaged Women and Children, held a ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of implementing the programme to provide free treatment for poor children with congenital heart problems during the 2003-2023 period.

Speaking at the ceremony, municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary cum People’s Council Chairman Luong Nguyen Minh Triet highlighted the humanity of the event in bringing healthy hearts to children in the city in particular and Central Viet Nam in general.
He also highly lauded the Association’s great efforts in bringing new life to thousands of children and hope for many poor families, thereby creating a unique mark for the association and contributing to making Da Nang one of the leading localities in the country in providing free screening tests for the early detection of congenital heart complaints for children.
Mr. Triet voiced his hope that, in the coming time, the programme will continue promote the achieved results and achievements, and further spread the principles and goals all for the cause of caring for unfortunate children with congenital heart disease.

Between 2003 and 2023, 753 free screening tests for the early detection of congenital heart complaints have been offered to 515,861 children. Through examinations, 2,340 children have been diagnosed with congenital heart disease.
The Association has directly works with socio-political and non-governmental organisations, businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals at home and abroad to mobilise funds to help nearly 1,400 children receive heart surgery totalling more than VND57 billion.
On the occasion, the Association presented Certificates of Merit to 15 groups and 8 individuals in recognition of their positive contributions to the humanitarian activity over the past time.
