A ceremony was held in Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District on Saturday to celebrate the 55^th Victory of Mother Nhu and 7 Thanh Khe Heroes (December 26, 1968 - December 26, 2023).

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of Thanh Khe District Party Committee Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet affirmed that, along with the heroic people of Da Nang, the people of Thanh Khe District have been loyal and indomitable to the Party and Uncle Ho.

She added that Thanh Khe District Party Committee will never forget the heroic sacrifice of 7 Thanh Khe Heroes and Mother Le Thi Danh, also known as Mother Nhu. This was one of the legendary battles, a noble symbol of revolutionary heroism, sacrifice and courage of the people of Thanh Khe District.

The feats of Mother Nhu and the 7 brave soldiers motivated and encouraged the fighting spirit of soldiers and people of Nhi District, currently knowns as Thanh Khe District, and nationwide, thereby greatly contributing to defeating the invasion plot of American imperialism, liberating the homeland and unifying the country.

The victory of Mother Nhu and the 7 Thanh Khe Heroes, along with the protection and support of Mother Hien and the people of Thanh Khe area, is forever a source of pride and a valuable lesson about the people's war path under the Vietnamese Party's leadership.

At the same time, it is a lesson about loyalty and steadfastness to the Party and the revolution of people; as well as a lesson about the patriotic tradition and the stubborn fighting spirit of the army and people of Thanh Loc Dan - Western Area - Nhi District (present-day Thanh Khe) in the cause of fighting foreign invaders, with the spirit of "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom", and “We would rather sacrifice all than forfeit our country or be slaves".

The feat of Mother Nhu and the 7 Thanh Khe Heroes was commended by the Party Committee of the former Quang Da Special Zone. And this victory contributed to the people and people's armed forces of Second District - Thanh Khe being honoured to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the anti-American period conferred by the President in June 2003.

In particular, in 1985, on the occasion of the 10^th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang, the people of the city in general and those of Thanh Khe District in particular were extremely proud when the Mother Nhu Monument was built majestically in the middle of Dien Bien Phu Street which is considered the gateway leading to the city centre.

Since the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975), generations of officials, party members, soldiers and people from all walks of life in Thanh Khe District have always been promoting the tradition of revolutionary heroes, love for the homeland, and faithful of previous generations, seeing that as valuable luggage, and an important spiritual motivation to build and develop civilized and prosperous Thanh Khe District.

Also at the ceremony, the organisers announced the municipal People’s Committee-issued decision to make Mother Nhu's monument into the list of valuable architectural works in the city and launched the Thanh Khe District’s logo.
