Get-together for nearly 2,000 retired military officers with ranks of Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel

The Da Nang authorities held a get-together in Da Nang on Wednesday for over 2,000 retired senior military officers at the rank of colonel, lieutenant colonel, regiment-level leaders, and equivalent or higher on the occasion of the 79th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People’s Army and the 34th anniversary of the All People Defence Festival (December 22).

In his speech delivered at the event, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh affirmed that, under the leadership of the municipal Party Committee, the Executive Committees of the War Veterans' Association at all levels have thoroughly grasped and promptly implemented the directives and resolutions of the Party and the Viet Nam War Veterans' Association. At the same time, they cooperated well with relevant units to implement the theme for 2023 as 'The year focuses on unleashing resources, attracting investment, maintaining economic growth and ensuring social welfare’.

The city leader emphasised that many war veterans have been actively involved in production and business activities, social work, and creating jobs for thousands of workers, thereby contributing to ending hunger, reducing poverty, improving the lives of locals, as well as supporting social policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances.

In particular, war veterans have promoted the pioneering spirit, set an example, and inspired the desire to build and develop the city, as well as continued to educate morality and revolutionary ideals for the young generation.

Chairman Chinh revealed that, in 2024, the city will continue to roll out solutions for boosting the city’s socio-economic recovery and growth.

The city will spend a significant amount of resources to take care of social policy policies, people with meritorious services, workers, and children in special circumstances.

Heed will be on increasing the level of support and expanding beneficiaries through resolutions issued by the municipal People's Council, plus many programmes and projects in the field of social security.

Importance will be attached to building synchronous infrastructure, striving to complete the public investment disbursement plan at the highest level, promoting startups, innovate, and strongly deploying digital transformation in all industries and fields.
