Da Nang, Gangwon promote the establishment of twinning relationship
Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Council Nguyen Thi Anh Thi hosted a reception on Tuesday for a group of visitors from the People's Council of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea.

During her meeting with South Korean guests, Vice Chairwoman Anh Thi expressed her thanks to the Viet Nam-Korea Businessmen and Investment Association (VKBIA) for supporting and creating favourable conditions for the delegation of Da Nang’s officials to visit and work in Gangwon province last September.
When introducing Da Nang’s socio-economic development, Mrs. Thi affirmed that tourism was a bright spot in the city’s economic picture. The city welcomed more than 7.4 million visitors, including more than 2 million foreigners, as well as organised many outstanding cultural exchange programmes and activities in 2023.
She emphasised that Da Nang had a lot of potential to attract more investment in tourism and service industries, especially cultural tourism and high-tech industries associated with building creative urban areas and startups.
The Da Nang host added that Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District and Yeongyang District, Gyeongsangbuk Province, South Korea entered into an agreement on labour cooperation. Accordingly, Hoa Vang District sent local workers to work in Yeongyang District. The bilateral cooperation programme significantly contributed to creating livelihoods and strengthening connections between the two localities.
She, therefore, expressed her hope that the similar cooperation programmes will be implemented between Da Nang and other localities of South Korea, including Gangwon.
Mrs. Anh Thi said that Da Nang and Gangwon shared many similarities in terms of cultural, social and tourism development, which facilitated the two localities to connect and cooperate in many fields in the near future.
She took the opportunity to ask for support from VKBIA and Gangwon Province to appeal for more South Korean businesses to visit and learn about the city's investment environment, especially semiconductor, information technology, and high-tech industries.

Led the delegation from the People's Council of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Mr. Jeong Jae Woong who is Head of the Department of Culture and Society, thanked the city leaders for the respectful welcome.
He shared Gangwon was one of South Korea’s leading developed provinces with a diverse and dynamic economy. The locality boasted diverse cultural and artistic colours with many fascinating and interesting things to learn and explore.
Tourism is one of the province’s strengths. At the same time, the locality is very interested in developing fields such as AI, semiconductor, and hi-tech industries. Currently, many Vietnamese expatriates are living and working in Gangwon Province, he added.
Mr. Jeong Jae Woong wished to strengthen socio-cultural exchanges and economic cooperation with Da Nang in the coming time.
He pledged to act as a bridge to officially promote he establishment of twinning relationship with Da Nang, thereby facilitating people of the two localities to learn about, and enhance cooperation and exchange activities in the cultural field.
