A delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, is paying visits to five south-central provinces of Laos, namely Savannakhet, Attapeu, Sekong, Champasak and Salavane, from March 30 - April 5.

The Da Nang delegation arrived in Savannakhet Province and visited Consulate General of Viet Nam there on Saturday.

On behalf of the delegation, Chairman Chinh said that the purpose of his trip to the south-central provinces of Laos was to exchange information on the socio-economic development situation of each side, and evaluate the implementation of the cooperation deals signed between Da Nang and the Laotian localities for the 2023-2027 period.

On the occasion of the Bunpimay Festival 2024, the traditional New Year of Laos, Chairman Chinh wished leaders and people of Laos a happy new year, and donated funds to support social security work for the provinces of Laos.

The donations contributed to strengthening the friendly relationship and fostering effective cooperation between Da Nang and the Laotian provinces in particular, as well as cultivating and preserving the special and great friendship relationship between the Viet Nam and Laos in general.

For her part, Vietnamese Consul General in Savannakhet Dang Thi Hai Tam highly appreciated the cooperation programmes between Da Nang and the five south central provinces of Laos in recent times.

She proposed that Da Nang further boost cooperative activities with Lao localities in tourism, trade, education and training in the coming time.

On the occasion of Bunpimay Tet, the city delegation presented VND50 million to the Vietnamese Association in Savannakhet Province.
