Da Nang officials work in Laotian province of Champasak
As part of their ongoing working visit to the south central provinces of Laos, a delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh visited and extended Bunpimay New Year greetings 2024 to leaders of Champasak Province on Monday.

He wished the Party Committee, government, people of the Lao province a healthy, peaceful, happy and successful new year.
The Da Nang leader expressed his impression on Champasak's socio-economic development achievements, especially the urban appearance of Pakse City.
He said the purpose of the working trip was to review the implementation of some cooperation programmes outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the 2023-2027 period that has been signed between Da Nang and Champasak.

In 2024, Da Nang will continue to grant scholarships for 20 officials and students of Champasak Province to study at the University of Da Nang at the graduate and undergraduate levels in the 2024-2025 academic year; as well as send 2 local teachers to teach Vietnamese language at the Vietnamese Language Centre in Champasak Province in the 2024-2025 school year.
Also, the city will handle procedures to speed up the construction of the new Vietnamese Language Centre in the province; and organise programmes to introduce, connect and promote investment, trade, tourism and export activities of Da Nang businesses to the south central provinces of Laos, including Champasak Province.
Chairman Chinh affirmed that Da Nang will continue its efforts to tighten friendly ties between the two localities, contributing to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries’ Parties, States and people.
Deputy Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee Siphaphommachanh, for his part, spoke highly of cooperative ties between Da Nang and Champasak in recent years.
He hoped that Da Nang will foster cooperation with the province in the fields of investment, trade, services and human resource training.
On the occasion, the city delegation supported VND500 million in donation to Champasak Province to carry out social security work in 2024.

Also on the same day, the delegation of Da Nang visited officials and staff of the Consulate General of Viet Nam in Pakse City.
The delegation was briefed by Consul General Nguyen Van Trung about some outstanding achievements in the city, and a number of important foreign affairs and economic diplomacy activities in the time to come.
On behalf of the city, Mr. Chinh presented VND200 million to the Consulate General to support the city to participate in the forum on promoting trade, investment and tourism cooperation in the East-West Economic Corridor and the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam (CLV) Development Triangle which is slated to take place from April 9 - 11 with the participation of localities of 4 countries, namely Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.

Besides, the city delegation visited the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Primary School in Pakse under the management of the Vietnamese Association in Champasak.
Chairman Chinh highly appreciated the remarkable results of the Vietnamese Association in Champasak and encouraged the Association to continue to mobilize the Vietnamese community to help and support each other in life, thereby preserving national cultural identity and complying well with the guidelines, policies and laws of Laos.
