On Tuesday, Governor of Sekong Province Leklay Sivilay warmly received Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh as part of his ongoing working visit to the south central provinces of Laos.

Sending the best greetings to Party Committee, government and people of Sekong Province on the occasion of Laos' traditional New Year festival Bunpimay, Chairman Chinh wished the Lao province to continue to build and develop in the coming time.

The Da Nang leader informed that the city has been carried out some cooperation programmes outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the 2023-2027 period that has been signed between Da Nang and Sekong.

He added that, in 2024, Da Nang will continue to host the International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade, Tourism and Investment Fair in order to enhance trade connection, investment promotion, tourism, trade and export between Da Nang and Lao localities, including Sekong Province.

The focus will be on organising programmes to introduce, connect and promote investment activities of Da Nang businesses to the south central provinces of Laos, as well as effectively implement the Viet Nam - Laos Friendship Cooperation Programme under the project "Developing logistics services in Da Nang to effectively connect with central key economic region and EWEC for the 2021 - 2030 period with a vision to 2050", he noted

For his part, Governor Leklay Sivilay thanked Da Nang for active support for his locality and affirmed that the provincial leaders will well implement the cooperation content between the two localities in the 2023-2027 period.

Leaders of the two localities discussed the expansion of the road connecting Da Nang and Quang Nam Province in Viet Nam with Sekong Province, aimed at promoting the economic development of localities along the EWEC 2.

On this occasion, the delegation of Da Nang awarded VND500 million to Sekong Province for social security work.
