Da Nang delegation works with Indonesia's Denpasar leaders

Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi led a group of local officials to pay a courtesy visit to leaders of Denpasar, the capital city of the province of Bali, Indonesia, on Friday.

Ms. Ida Aju Ganda Yukti, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Denpasar highly lauded the visit made by the visitors from Da Nang.

Introducing the tourism growth situation in Bali, Ms. Ida Aju Ganda Yukti highlighted the importance of the development of a specific action plan in setting up local-level diplomacy relations in order to bring practical results to both sides.

For her part, Vice Chairman Thi thanked Ms. Ida Aju Ganda Yukti for her warm and sincere reception. She also briefed the host on the city’s socio-economic development situation, as well as results of the meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong on the policy of establishing friendly and cooperative relations with an Indonesian locality, and promoting the opening of a direct flight between Da Nang and Bali in the coming time.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to implement procedures to establish an official cooperative relationship between the two localities, with the initial focus on the Letter of Intent orienting the areas of cooperation that the two localities are aiming for.

Earlier, on the afternoon of August 29, the Da Nang delegation had a meeting with the Indonesian Ministry of Sports and Youth.

Chairing the reception for the Da Nang delegation, Mr. Burhanuddin Luthfi, Senior Analyst of the Indonesian Ministry of Sports and Youth, introduced some cooperation opportunities between Da Nang and Indonesian partners in sports and cultural exchange activities for the youth.

Recognising the importance of sports for people’s physical and mental health, Vice Chairwoman Anh Thi emphasised that the city has always been concentrating on developing movement sports and high-performance sports at grassroots level.

She asked for helping hand from the Indonesian Ministry of Sports and Youth to create favourable conditions to support training locations and related conditions in badminton, pencak silat, weightlifting, volleyball and rowing for Da Nang athletes during their training period there.

She hoped that Indonesia will regularly invite Da Nang athletes to compete in international open tournaments with high professional quality to facilitate them to learn experience and improve their professional level.

In reply, Mr. Burhanuddin Luthfi affirmed that the Indonesian Ministry of Sports and Youth is willing to cooperate with Da Nang in training high-performance sports, and will introduce the focal agency for training cooperation in sports that Da Nang is interested in such as badminton, rowing and Pencak silat.
