Da Nang, Champasak Province (Laos) strengthen cooperation, friendship
During his reception on Saturday for Party Committee Secretary cum Governor of Laos’ Champasak Province Alounxai Sounnalath, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh asked for help from the Laotian locality to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses and people to live and do business effectively, contributing to boosting the economic development between the two sides.

Hailing the visit made by Secretary and Governor of Champasak Province Alounxai Sounnalath, Chairman Chinh briefed the Lao guest on the Party building and rectification, the preparation work for the city's Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, and the local socio-economic development situation.
He also informed that, on June 26, 2024, the National Assembly of Viet Nam issued Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on the organisation of urban government and the piloting of a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang. He affirmed that this was an important driving force for Da Nang to complete its goal of becoming a major socio-economic hub of the country and Southeast Asia by 2030.
The host proposed that Champasak Province propose to the Lao Government to invest in the province's transport infrastructure in a bid to strengthen the connection of the East-West Economic Corridor, promoting trade between Viet Nam and Laos; as well as to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses and the Vietnamese community to live and do business effectively in the locality.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two localities for the 2023-2027 period, in 2024, Da Nang continues to grant scholarships for 20 officials and students of Champasak Province to study in the city; send 2 teachers to the province’s Vietnamese Language Centre for teaching Vietnamese; and starting the construction of the 2nd facility of the Vietnamese Language Centre in the province.

In reply, Secretary and Governor of Champasak province Alounxai Sounnalath expressed his impression on Da Nang’s remarkable socio-economic development in recent times as well as enjoyed sound relations between the two localities with fruitful results seen in all cooperation areas.
He hoped that Da Nang’s investors will visit and learn about investment opportunities in Champasak Province in agriculture, tourism, logistics and clean energy.
The Lao official also asked for a helping hand from Da Nang to train provincial officials in the fields of tourism and logistics, support vocational training centres, and increase the level of scholarships for Lao students studying in the city.

On the occasion, the Secretary and Governor of Champasak Province awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 individuals from Da Nang who had made active contribution to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between two localities.
