Spreading humanity

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau and her husband, Thai Van Nhon, living in An Hai Dong Ward, Son Tra District, were recently honoured by the Prime Minister for their remarkable achievement of donating blood 75 times. Chau began donating blood at the age of 19, later joining the city's 25 Blood Donation Club in 2006 and donating 40 times. In 2010, she encouraged her husband, Nhon, to participate as well.

According to Ms. Le Thi Nhu Hong, President of the Da Nang's Red Cross Society, the campaign "Each organisation, each individual with a humanitarian address" and the voluntary blood donation movement have developed strongly. In 2003, the city collected 4,403 units of blood, and by 2013, this number had risen to 35,989 units, an eightfold increase. Da Nang has led the nation in voluntary blood donations for many years, with 15 blood donation clubs now operating around the clock.

Ms Tran Thi Thu Hanh, Vice President of the city’s Women's Union, shared that with the motto "Where there are women, there are union activities," women’s unions at all levels have creatively applied emulation programmes to suit their specific locations and targets. Notable among these efforts is the "Godmother" programme, which has supported 772 orphaned children.

"The city's women’s unions have maintained and expanded practical models such as 'Piggy Banks,' 'Charity Rice Jars,' and the 'Green Dream Scholarship,' providing scholarships, capital, and livelihood tools, as well as building or repairing homes for disadvantaged women and children," Ms. Hanh added.

Effective emulation movements

According to Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, the city’s emulation movements have focused on practical, grassroots activities aligned with the city’s political and economic goals, as well as significant national and local events.

Prominent movements include digital transformation, "Skilful Mass Mobilisation," emulation within the armed forces, initiatives within the business sector, the "Humanitarian Month" campaign, and programs to assist the poor and protect children's rights.

The movement to excel in administrative reform has yielded clear results. The city's People’s Committee annually issues plans to implement administrative reforms with specific goals and deliverables. Policies and breakthrough solutions have been introduced to improve public services and decentralisation, all aimed at enhancing the quality of officials and service provision.

Additionally, the city has reinforced the accountability of leaders in executing administrative reform. This determination, combined with strengthened oversight, has led to significant progress, resulting in greater satisfaction among citizens and businesses. As a result, Da Nang has consistently ranked among the top provinces in the Public Administration Reform Index, as assessed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
