Da Nang promotes cooperation in semiconductor and AI with US enterprises
As part of their working trip to the United States, a delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh, visited and worked with the world's leading semiconductor enterprises in Silicon Valley, California, the USA.

On the morning of November 22, Chairman Chinh and the city’s delegation visited the Marvell Technology, Inc. - the world's leading enterprise in semiconductor solutions for data infrastructure, to discuss in detail the implementation of the content of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two sides at the Semiconductor Da Nang Day 2024 which took place in August 2024.
Considering Marvell as an important strategic partner of the city in the field of semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI), Chairman Chinh highly appreciated Marvell's efforts in implementing its investment commitments with the opening of its first office in Da Nang last May.
Introducing preferential policies and specific investment support for the city's strategic partners, he suggested that Marvell continue to expand its investment and business activities in Da Nang; cooperate in developing high-quality human resources in semiconductor and AI; and assist the city with building a lab for training.
The city is committed to creating the best conditions for the Marvell Da Nang office to operate effectively and stably.
For his part, Dr. Loi Nguyen, Executive Vice President of Cloud Optics at Marvell, said that after 6 months of operation, Marvell's human resources have expanded by 25% compared to the beginning and this number will continue to grow in the coming time.
Dr. Loi Nguyen commented that Da Nang has bright prospects in the field of semiconductors and AI and believed that Marvell's investment activities in Da Nang will achieve positive results.
Marvell highly appreciated the competitive advantages that Da Nang possessed, especially the young, skilled and well-trained workforce, and will continue to implement specific programmes, contributing to improving the quality of human resources in semiconductors and AI in Da Nang and Viet Nam as a whole, he added.
Marvell will also participate in training key lecturers for universities as well as research the possibility of cooperation in building a lab to serve the training of semiconductor and AI in Da Nang, he informed.

When working with NVIDIA - the world's leading chip manufacturing corporation in the afternoon of the same day, Chairman Chinh requested NVIDIA to continue to coordinate effectively in implementing the Deep Learning Institute (DLI) University Ambassador Programme, and enhancing the capacity of lecturers in the city.
At the same time, he asked for support from NVIDIA to promote start-ups, innovation, research and development programmes in the city.
He emphasised that support from large technology corporations such as NVIDIA will play an important role in helping Da Nang realise its goal of becoming a national innovation centre in the near future.
Ms. Shilpa Kolhatkar, Director of AI Nations of NVIDIA, said that the corporation is actively implementing programmes to support training, improve skills, and develop human resources in AI in Viet Nam in general and Da Nang in particular.
Based on information on preferential policies and specific support of the city in the field of startups and innovation, NVIDIA will continue to research and coordinate with the city's relevant departments to consider ways of cooperation between the two sides.

Also, the Da Nang delegation had a working session with ITSJ-G Company and Philogix Consultant Company to discuss investment opportunities in the local high-tech sector.
Highly praising Da Nang’s investment and business environment, President and CEO of ITSJ-G Chau Tran said that the company is currently studying a plan to implement a project to build a factory manufacturing equipment in the semiconductor supply chain at the Da Nang High-Tech Park.
Recognising the development potential of Da Nang in the field of life sciences (biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment manufacturing, etc.), Ms. Janette Phi, Director of Philogix Consultant Company, presented the proposal for the Life Science Park project in Da Nang, with the goal of building Da Nang into an innovation centre, promoting research and development activities, and technology transfer in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, etc.
The Da Nang authorities committed to actively coordinating and supporting investors in researching and implementing successful projects in Da Nang.

Previously, on November 21, the delegation visited and worked with the leaders of Supermicro Corporation - the world's leading supplier of server systems.
At the meeting, Chairman Chinh informed that Da Nang has been making efforts to turn itself into one of the high-tech centres of Viet Nam with a focus on semiconductor and AI.
Currently, the city is speeding up the completion of infrastructure and other necessary conditions to receive investment projects from enterprises in this field.
Appreciating the technological achievements and remarkable performance of Supermicro in recent times, Chairman Chinh suggested that Supermicro consider and research the investment in an AI data centre and cooperate in implementing a human resource training programme in the field of management, operation, exploitation of machinery and equipment and the AI ecosystem in Da Nang.
Vice President of Supermicro Group Phidias Chou highly appreciated the development potential for technology enterprises in Da Nang. He affirmed that he will actively consider the proposal of the city leader on building an AI Data Centre in Da Nang.
He informed that in September 2024, within the framework of the working programme of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and State President To Lam in the United States, the Supermicro Corporation and the Sovico Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in AI, semiconductor and data centre construction in Viet Nam. This will be the foundation for Supermicro to increase its presence in the Vietnamese market in the coming time. In addition, the Vice President of Supermicro also committed to carrying out related training programmes as proposed by Da Nang.

When visiting the headquarters of Qorvo - the leading global supplier of semiconductor chips for power and connectivity solutions on the same afternoon, Chairman Chinh congratulated Qorvo and Qorvo Vietnam Company on their impressive achievements over the past time. He also affirmed that Qorvo was one of Da Nang's major partners in the field of semiconductor.
The city leader also informed Qorvo's leaders about the construction progress of the Software Park No. 2 project as well as preferential policies and specific support for the city's strategic partners in the field of semiconductor.
He committed to creating the most favourable conditions for foreign investors in general, and Qorvo in particular, to operate effectively in Da Nang. He also expressed his wish that the group will accelerate the opening of an office in Da Nang and support the city in training human resources in the field of semiconductor design.
Appreciating the determination of Da Nang in building a favorable investment and business environment for semiconductor enterprises, Qorvo CEO Jeff Strang commented that Da Nang possesses many great prospects in semiconductor.
In the coming time, Qorvo will send a working group to Da Nang to research, survey, and discuss the opening of a design office; as well as send lecturers and senior experts to join IC design training courses in the city.
