Da Nang promotes friendships and cooperative relations with Cuba

The delegation of Da Nang, led by Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh, had a working trip to Cuba at the invitation of the Cuban Embassy in Viet Nam.

During his visit to the Embassy of Viet Nam in Cuba on Friday, Chairman Chinh said that the visit made by the Da Nang delegation reflected the continuation of the long-standing traditional relations between Viet Nam and Cuba, affirming the love of the people of Da Nang for the people of Cuba.

He affirmed that Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s immortal saying “For Viet Nam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood” has become a shining, beautiful symbol of the spirit of proletarian, noble, genuine and loyal internationalism that few nations in the world have.

The city official highly praised the Embassy of Viet Nam in Cuba for its great efforts in performing its duties and contributing to the development of Cuba and the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

He also asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba to continue promoting the friendly and cooperative relationships between Da Nang and Cuban localities towards the celebration of the 65th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam - Cuba diplomatic ties in 2025 (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).

For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cuba Le Quang Long expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation of Da Nang.

He said that Da Nang and Cuban localities had great potential for cooperation in trade promotion, tourism, cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy.

He pledged that he will continue to act as a bridge to promote relations and cooperation between Cuban localities and Da Nang in the coming time.

Also on the occasion, Da Nang sent condolences to the Cuban Party, State and people about the losses that Cuba is experiencing due to the impact of storms Oscar and Rafael in late October and early November 2024.

At the same time, the city donated US$10,000 to the Nguyen Van Troi Primary School - a symbol of the close relationship between Quang Nam - Da Nang Province (old) and Cuba.

Previously, with the support of the Cuban Embassy in Viet Nam, the delegation heard an introduction to Mantazas Province, the second largest locality of Cuba, and the possibility of strengthening cooperation between the two localities in the fields of maritime tourism and cultural exchange.

On the occasion, Chairman Chinh invited the leaders of Mantazas Province to attend the Forum of Friendship and Cooperation Cities 2025 scheduled to take place in Da Nang from January 16 - 18, 2025.

The forum will discuss achievements on the multilateral cooperation map, thereby expanding and tightening international relations in such important areas as innovation, smart city building, high technology, urban planning and sustainable tourism.

During the trip to Cuba, the delegation of Da Nang offered flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at the park named after him in the capital of La Habana. The delegation observed a minute of silence to commemorate the great leader of the Vietnamese people in a solemn and emotional atmosphere.
