Japan's Yokohama shares urban planning experience with Da Nang
As part of their ongoing trip to Japan, a group of Da Nang’s officials, led by Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Quang Nam, paid a courtesy visit to leaders of Yokohama City.

When receiving the Da Nang visitors, Deputy Mayor of Yokohama City Sato Hirotaka briefed his guests on the socio-economic situation, potential and development orientation of Yokohama. He also shared experiences and ideas on building sustainable urban with the delegation.
He also informed that Yokohama has developed into the second largest city and Yokohama Port is one of the main international ports in Japan, about 30 km from the capital Tokyo.
Thanks to its favourable geographical location and modern infrastructure, Yokohama Port is an ideal destination for international import-export and logistics activities. The port contributes about US$ 55 billion to Japan's GDP (Gross domestic product) every year.
Moreover, the Minato Mirai 21 in Yokohama City usually hosts cultural activities, conferences, and exhibitions, and attracts many companies and enterprises to invest in and do business, thereby contributing to raising Yokohama's position on the global map.
The Deputy Mayor expressed his impression of the remarkable development of Da Nang in recent years. Since 2013, the two localities have together implemented many effective cooperation programmes, especially maintaining the organisation of the Urban Development Forum.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Quang Nam thanked the Yokohama City leaders for their thoughtful reception. He expressed his delight at the positive and practical development of the bilateral cooperative relationship between the two localities over the past time.
Da Nang has chosen Yokohama as a model city to learn valuable experiences in developing and operating seaports, urban planning, sustainable development, etc. The city official, therefore, asked for support from Yokohama City in sharing good experiences in urban planning and management with Da Nang in the time to come.
After the meeting, the Da Nang delegation conducted field surveys at Yokohama Port, subway station, and others.
