During the reception, Chairman Chinh highlighted the comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Canada. He informed that Canada is the 14th largest investor in Viet Nam with more than 247 projects totalling over US$ 4.82 billion.
Canada has experience in new technology, high-quality human resource training, and green finance, which is suitable for the city’s development orientation in the coming time, he added.
Mr. Chinh also voiced his hope that the Canadian diplomat will do his utmost to connect Da Nang with Canadian partners in order to contribute to realising the city's sustainable development strategy.
He also asked for help from the Canadian ambassador to appeal for more investors from his country to survey and seek investment opportunities in Da Nang in the fields of infrastructure, transportation, medical services, tourism, education and training, etc.
In addition, the city leader hoped Mr. Perry Shawn Steil to provide information on the list of Canadian businesses with import needs, and on commodity standards when entering the Canadian market, as well as introduce trade opportunities in the two countries through fairs, exhibitions and meetings with partners.
Aside from economic cooperation, Chairman Chinh requested the Ambassador to promote cultural exchange activities, as well as introduce Canadian culture and people to Da Nang, and Vietnamese culture and people to Canadian people.
For his part, Mr. Shawn Steil expressed his delight at the increasingly good development of the Viet Nam - Canadia cooperative relationship.
He affirmed that Canada will continue to support Viet Nam through projects aimed at sustainable growth, with a total budget of about US$ 30 million. He pledged to promote cooperation in many fields between Canada and Da Nang, contributing to building a green and sustainable future.
