Speaking at a meeting on Wednesday to identify a number of tasks for the implementation of Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the organisation of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang commended the efforts of departments, branches and sectors in implementing the contents of the resolution.

He, at the same time, requested departments, branches and sectors to urgently implement the mechanisms and policies issued by the municipal People's Council, as well as review and ensure the progress of drafting 7 resolutions to be submitted to the municipal People's Council for approval in the coming time.

Importance should be attached to absorbing the spirit and new content of a number of guidelines, orientations and policies of the Central Government; and adjusting the city's planning to build and develop functional areas in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, he added.

Secretary Quang highly appreciated the proposals of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade and other departments, branches and consulting units after learning from the experience of the free trade zone in the UAE, but it is necessary to focus on completing the content of the draft decision of the Prime Minister on the Project to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.

He stressed the need for the Party Committee of the municipal People's Committee to direct departments, branches and sectors to prepare all conditions and tasks such as adjusting the city's master plan, verifying the origin of land and assets attached to land to serve the site clearance for the construction of functional areas in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, and preparing infrastructure projects connecting the above-mentioned functional areas.

“All of these must be prepared in parallel with the completion of the project, so that when the Prime Minister signs the decision to issue the project, the city can immediately implement it” Secretary Quang emphasised.

The city Party chief also gave some opinions on the content of the draft decision and project as well as requested departments, branches, sectors and consulting units to supplement and encourage research and training in industries in need such as semiconductors and hi-tech industries. Heed should be on conducting controlled testing in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, and supplementing “Free port” services in free trade zones associated with airports and seaports like Singapore.

In addition to reviewing and finalizing the content of the Prime Minister’s draft decision on the project to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, Secretary Quang requested relevant departments, branches and sectors to coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to propose meetings to unify the content to submit to the Prime Minister.
