Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh hosted a reception on Friday for Swiss Ambassador to Viet Nam Thomas Gass during his visit to the city.

Chairman Chinh briefed his guest on the outstanding results of his working trip to Switzerland on the occasion of accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the 55^th annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, Switzerland from January 20 - 23.

The city leader asked for a helping hand from Ambassador Thomas Gass to facilitate the city to connect with Swiss financial experts in order to learn about mechanisms and policies to build and develop regional and international financial centres in Viet Nam. He hoped that the Swiss diplomat will support the city to approach partners to build an ecosystem, train human resources and invest in infrastructure to serve the financial centre model.

Mr. Chinh also expressed his desire that the Swiss ambassador will appeal for more investors from his country to survey and seek investment opportunities in Da Nang in the fields of tourism, high technology, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence.

For his part, Ambassador Thomas Gass thanked the city leaders for their warm welcome and expressed his willingness to cooperate with Da Nang in the fields of finance, high-tech industry, services, and tourism. At the same time, he affirmed that he will act as a bridge to strengthen the development of cooperation between Viet Nam and Switzerland in a practical and effective manner in the coming time.
