Da Nang, Japan promote hi-tech cooperation
Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh, on Thursday, warmly received Mr. Yoshiki Onoi, President of the Japan - Viet Nam Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee under the International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) during his visit in the city.

During the reception, Chairman Chinh informed about the city’s outstanding socio-economic results, expressing his delight at fruitful outcomes from traditional cooperative relationship between Japanese and Da Nang localities and enterprises.
He added that the Vietnamese government has issued many special mechanisms and outstanding policies for Da Nang to develop in such aspects as innovation, science and technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), international financial centre and free trade zone.
The abovementioned mechanisms and policies are important driving forces for Da Nang to turn itself into one of the major socio-economic centres of the country and Southeast Asia by 2030, he said.
The city leader asked for help from Mr. Yoshiki Onoi to boost investment promotion in Da Nang from Japan in the fields of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, data centres, innovative startups, and tourism, as well as promote cultural exchange activities between Da Nang and Japanese localities.
He pledged that the municipal government will offer a favourable, effective and safe investment environment to foreign enterprises, including those from Japan, to invest in Da Nang.

For his part, President Yoshiki Onoi highly appreciated the development strategy and great potential of Da Nang.
In addition to tourism, Japanese enterprises are currently showing their interest in expanding investment and business activities in Da Nang in the fields of hi-tech medical applications, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and data centres, he noted.
Mr. Yoshiki Onoi hoped that the two sides will quickly enhance cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths and are interested in, thereby contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Japan and Viet Nam.
The International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) was established in May 1983 as a non-profit international exchange organization that, on the private-sector level, promotes relationships of friendship and cooperation between Japan and other countries as well as fosters public understanding of international circumstances. FEC has about 300 member companies and individuals, including large corporations, spanning many fields such as culture, education, healthcare and human resource development, etc.
