Da Nang delegation sends New Year greetings to leaders of Savannakhet

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh visited and sent best wishes to the Party Committee, government and people of Savannakhet Province on the occasion of Bunpimay in 2025 - Laos' traditional New Year Festival (Buddhist calendar 2568) as part of his ongoing his working trip to south central provinces of Laos.

At the same time, he hoped the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos in general, and between Da Nang and Savannakhet Province in particular, will be deepened in the coming time.

Deputy Secretary Vinh informed about some of the city’s outstanding socio-economic achievements. He revealed that, in the coming time, Da Nang will strive to become an international tourism centre associated with an international event organisation centre; a high-tech industrial and information technology centre; a startup and innovation centre; a regional-scale international financial centre; and a livable coastal city reaching the level of the Asian region.

He emphasised that the working trip was an opportunity for the city to review and evaluate to the progress and content of the cooperation programmes signed by the two sides.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding between Da Nang and Savannakhet Province during the 2023 – 2027 period, the city granted scholarships for 37 officials and students of Savannakhet Province to study at the University of Da Nang at the doctoral, master's and university levels in the 2023 - 2024 academic year. Also, the city sent 4 teachers to teach Vietnamese at the Vietnamese Language Centre of Savannakhet Province, as well as received and supported a delegation of 42 officials and students of the Vietnamese Language Centre to conduct field trips in Da Nang.

In 2025, the two sides will continue to maintain the exchange of high-level delegations, support scholarships for 26 officials and students from the Laotian province to study at the University of Da Nang at all levels, and send 2 teachers to teach Vietnamese.

Additionally, a training course will be organised for 10 officials from the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Savannakhet Province to exchange and learn from experiences. Funds will be given to the Association of Vietnamese people in Savannakhet Province to pay salaries for 2 Vietnamese language teachers at the Lao-Viet Nam Friendship Junior High School.

When receiving the Da Nang delegation, leader of Savannakhet Province expressed his delight at the fruitful results of cooperation programmes between Da Nang and his province. He also took the opportunity to thank the active and effective support of Da Nang for his locality over the past year, greatly contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.

The leader of Savannakhet Province voiced his hope that Da Nang will continue to support and strengthen cooperation with the province in the fields of investment, trade, services and human resource training in the time ahead.

On the occasion, Da Nang donated VND500 million to support Savannakhet Province in implementing social security work.

Also on the same day, the Da Nang delegation visited the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Savannakhet Province.

During the meeting, Vietnamese Consul General in Savannakhet Province Dang Thi Hai Tam informed the Da Nang visitors about a number of important activities in the field of foreign affairs and economic diplomacy in the locality.

Deputy Secretary Vinh acknowledged and highly appreciated some proposals made by the Consulate General related to support for education, tourism, teaching and training of Vietnamese Martial Arts - Vovinam, and social security work in the Lao province.

He stated that the city leaders will consider and direct relevant departments and branches to advise on implementation after the working trip.
