Da Nang, Laos' Champasak foster relationship

A delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh, on Thursday, visited and sent New Year greetings to the Party Committee, government and people of Champasak Province in Laos on the occasion of Bunpimay 2025 (Buddhist calendar 2568).

Wishing the Party Committee, government and people of Champasak Province happiness and many achievements, Deputy Secretary Vinh expressed his desire that the special, great friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos in general and between Da Nang and Champasak Province in particular will be deepened in the time to come.

Mr. Vinh also extended his heartfelt condolences to the high-ranking leaders and people of Laos over the death of Gen. Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), former President and former Prime Minister of Laos, who passed away on April 2.

He firmly believed that the Party, State, and people of Laos, along with Comrade Khamtay Siphandone’s family, will soon overcome this profound loss and continue building a prosperous Laos.

The city leader expressed his impression of the strong development of Champasak Province, and informed about some of the city’s outstanding socio-economic results and development orientation in the coming time.

Discussing the results of implementing cooperation programmes between Da Nang and Champasak Province in the 2023 - 2027 period, Deputy Secretary Vinh informed that the city has granted scholarships to 38 officials and students from the province to study at the University of Da Nang at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and sent 4 teachers to teach Vietnamese at the Vietnamese Language Centre in Champasak Province. Also, a delegation of Da Nang businesses joined a cluster of booths at the programme to connect and promote investment, trade and tourism cooperation among Viet Nam, Laos and Thailand in Pakse City, Champasak Province.

In 2025, the city will continue to support scholarships for 20 officials and students of Champasak Province to study at the University of Da Nang, and send 2 teachers to teach Vietnamese at the Champasak Vietnamese Language Centre.

Secretary and Governor of Champasak Province Alounxai Sounnalath expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of Da Nang, wishing that the special, great friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Da Nang and Champasak Province will continue to develop in depth.

On the occasion, Da Nang donated VND 500 million to Champasak Province to carry out social security work.

Earlier, on the same morning, the Da Nang delegation visited the Vietnamese Consulate General in Champasak Province, the Association of Vietnamese people and the Vietnamese Language Centre in the province.

On the occasion, the city leaders donated the Association of Vietnamese people in the Laotian locality VND 240 million to pay salaries for 2 Vietnamese language teachers at the Viet Nam - Laos Friendship Senior High School, presented VND 50 million to the Association to celebrate Tet, and gave gifts to 2 teachers sent by the city to teach at the Vietnamese Language Centre in Champasak Province.
