A delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh, visited and sent New Year greetings to the Party Committee, government and people of Sekong Province as part of their ongoing working trip to south central provinces of Laos.

Deputy Secretary Vinh wished the leaders and people of Sekong Province a happy and prosperous New Year on the occasion of Bunpimay 2025. He hoped that the special, great friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos in general, and between Da Nang and Sekong Province in particular, will be forever green and forever sustainable. He also expressed his desire that the Da Nang - Sekong cooperation relations will be increasingly enhanced.

Mr. Vinh also extended his heartfelt condolences to the high-ranking leaders and people of Laos over the death of Gen. Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), former President and former Prime Minister of Laos, who has recently passed away.

At the same time, he firmly believed that the Party, State, and people of Laos, along with Comrade Khamtay Siphandone’s family, will soon overcome this profound loss and continue building a prosperous Laos.

Also, Deputy Secretary Vinh informed the host about some of the city’s outstanding socio-economic development results and its development orientation in the years ahead.

Discussing the results of implementing cooperation programmes between Da Nang and Sekong Province in the 2023 - 2027 period, Deputy Secretary Vinh informed that the city has granted scholarships to 45 officials and students from the province to study at the University of Da Nang at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and sent 4 teachers to teach Vietnamese at the Vietnamese Language Centre in Sekong Province.

In 2025, the city will continue to support scholarships for 30 officials and students of Sekong Province to study at the University of Da Nang at all levels; support and send 2 teachers to teach Vietnamese at the Vietnamese Language Centre in Sekong Province.

For his part, Deputy Secretary of the Sekong Provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the Sekong Province People's Council Dong-phet Pha-nhon expressed his gratitude for the support of Da Nang in the past time. He also expressed his hope that the cooperation between Da Nang and Sekong Province in the coming time will continue to be more effective.

On the occasion, Da Nang donated VND 500 million to Sekong Province to carry out social security work.

On the same afternoon, the Da Nang delegation visited and wished a Happy New Year to the family of Comrade Bun Nhon (Le Viet Muong, from Quang Nam-Da Nang, former Secretary and Governor of Sekong Province, passed away in 2018).

Earlier, on the same morning, the city delegation visited the Association of Vietnamese people in Sekong Province at the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Junior High School and the Vietnamese Language Centre.

On this occasion, the city leaders presented VND 120 million to the Association to support the salaries of Vietnamese language teachers at the Viet Nam-Laos Friendship Junior High School, VND 50 million to the Association to celebrate Bunpimay, and gifts to 2 teachers sent by the city to teach at the Vietnamese Language Centre in Sekong Province.
