Director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Xuan Binh, Head of the delegation of the city, is Deputy Head of Working Group No. 8. The working group comprised 200 representatives of 15 localities, agencies and units nationwide.
The working group No.8 visited, presented gifts, and learned about the living conditions of officers, soldiers and people on Truong Sa islands and DK1 Platform.
At the destinations, the delegation took part in cultural and artistic exchange activities with officers, soldiers and people on duty and living on the islands. All activities aimed to encourage soldiers and people there to feel secure and overcome difficulties to well complete the task of protecting the national sovereignty over its sea and islands, and the sacred continental shelf of the Fatherland.
The delegation solemnly organised a memorial service for naval soldiers who bravely sacrificed their lives in a battle to protect the Gac Ma, Co Lin, and Len Dao Reefs in Viet Nam’s Truong Sa Archipelago, and offered incense to commemorate heroic martyrs on the islands. In Truong Sa Town, more than 200 delegates attended the sacred and emotional flag-raising ceremony.
During the journey, the delegation participated in many meaningful activities such as the launching of the emulation movement "All for beloved Truong Sa and DK1 Platform"; and a contest to learn about the 70-year tradition of the Viet Nam People's Navy.
At the end of the voyage, Rear Admiral Nguyen Thien Quan, Commander of Naval Region 3, praised the results of the working delegation. The delegation left a good impression on naval soldiers and people on the islands, he added.
The Da Nang delegation with 70 members actively participated in the activities of the whole working group. Along with the general programme, the city’s delegation visited and gave gifts to the officers and soldiers who are citizens of the city and are on duty in the Truong Sa Archipelago.
