Over 107 billion VND for Forest Protection and Development Planning
Following recent approval by the Da Nang authorities, over 107 billion VND will be spent on implementing the city’s Forest Protection and Development Planning over the 2011 - 2020 period.
The purposes are to effectively manage over 57,200ha of land earmarked for the development of forestry, and increase the local forest cover ratio, as well as to encourage local businesses and social organisations to get involved in protecting and developing forests.
Top priority will be given to the city’s forest inventory project, the pilot model for paying for forestry environmental services in eco-tourism and hydropower activities. It will include conservation and sustainable development planning for the Ba Na-Nui Chua and the Son Tra nature reserves until 2020.
Special attention will also be paid to enhancing the capacity of local forestry managers and the forest ranger force at grass-roots level, implementing sustainable management and development programmes, protecting local forests and conserving biological diversity, as well as developing forestry environmental services and building forestry infrastructure.
