80-tonne amphibious transport ship launched
Da Nang’s Hai Son Shipbuilding and Repairing Company held a ceremony on Tuesday to launch ST-2300-03, an 80-tonne amphibious transport ship.
Designed by the Ship Technology Development Company, the steel-hulled ship features a cabin at the stern, and a deck and amphibious assault ramp in front of the cabin.
The 27.50m-long, 6.80m-wide and 2.80m-high ship can operate at a maximum speed of 12 nautical miles per hour, and it is capable of operating continuously for 60 hours.

The ship will be used to support amphibious landings of soldiers, weapons, technical equipment and logistics, and can be used in search and rescue activities at sea if needed.
The ship’s investor is the Transport Bureau of the General Department of Logistics under the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence. The launching of the ship is an event of great significance to celebrate the 68th anniversary of Viet Nam's August Revolution (19 August) and National Day (2 September).
