Cheaper loans suggested for the poor and policy beneficiaries
During his meeting on Wednesday morning with the Da Nang branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policy, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, suggested that the branch should lower its interest rates on loans to local poor families and social policy beneficiaries. He said that this would help them develop their production, increase their incomes, and improve their living conditions.
The Director of the bank, Ms Tran Thi Phuong Lan, said that the bank’s total capital has so far reached 1,012 billion VND. Of this, 954 billion has come from the central budget, an increase of 60 billion VND as compared with last year, whilst 58 billion VND is from the city’s budget.
During 2012 and the first 8 months of this year, the bank gave 461 billion VND in loans to local poor households.
