On Tuesday, the Da Nang Police Department decided to detain 49-year-old Nguyen Dac Linh from Hai Chau District for the next 4 months after he was charged with “defrauding money and appropriating property”.

According to the initial police investigation, Linh is the Deputy Director of the Thanh Nien (Youth) Company, located at 2 Van Cao Street, which specialises in providing consulting services for technical designs and the development of traffic and telecommunications projects.  Linh and his wife My have taken advantage of local people's credulity to borrow money to implement projects for which Linh’s company had been awarded contracts between 2012 and 2013.  They promised to share attractive profits with the lenders after these projects were complete. 

Local investigators have initially identified 3 of Linh’s victims.  They had denounced Linh for defrauding a total of more than 40 billion VND from them. 

The case is still under investigation.
