Gold robber arrested
Police in Thanh Khe District have arrested 23-year-old Mai Van Phuong from Son Tra District’s Nai Hien Dong Ward for robbing the Ngoc Hong gold shop on Truong Chinh Street.
The Head of the Thanh Khe District Criminal Investigation Unit, Lt Col Kieu Van Vuong, said that around 7.10pm on 15 September his unit received information about the robbery at the Ngoc Hong gold shop, with the total stolen property valued at about 170 million VND.

At 8.30am the next day, the police arrested Phuong in possession of the stolen gold whilst he was in another gold shop on Dien Bien Phu Street.
According to Phuong’s confession, he had appropriated the property with the intention of paying off his debts and covering up his overspending. At 6pm on 15 September, he had caught the owner of the gold shop off guard, smashed her display counter, grabbed 10 gold bracelets, and fled.
