Doctors at the Da Nang General Hospital recently performed successful surgery on a 41-year-old man from Cam Le District and prevented his brain aneurysm from bursting.

The Hospital’s Deputy Director, Dr Nguyen Ngoc Ba, said that the patient had been rushed to the hospital with a chronic headache.  The patient had reported headaches before, but the exact cause had never previously been determined.

With the help of a CT scan, doctors detected a 5.2mm x 5mm unruptured cerebral aneurysm in the right internal carotid artery.  They decided to perform immediate surgery to save the patient’s life.  After his hour-long operation, the patient’s health is now recovering.

The Hospital’s doctors said that the rupture of a cerebral aneurysm is dangerous for the elderly, and it could lead to death.  Thanks to the advanced digital subtraction angiography (DSA) machine, patients have fewer complications and better recovery rates after such surgery compared with the old treatment methods.
