Over the past 5 years, the Da Nang Police have detected and dealt with a total of around 4,000 drug addicts.  2,539 of them were given help to access the city’s rehabilitation programmes - nearly double the number in the 2005 - 2007 period.

Of all the criminals arrested in Da Nang during the same period, 80% were drug addicts or involved in illegal drug use.  Analysis of the figures also shows that 82% were unemployed, over 32% had previous criminal records, 28% were from outside Da Nang, 83% were male, and 84% were aged between 18 and 35.
