According to the Da Nang Traffic Safety Board, between January and August a total of 158 road traffic accidents were recorded in the city.  These resulted in 90 deaths and 130 serious injuries.  The figures show a year-on-year decrease of 11 in the number of accidents, and a year-on-year increase in the number of deaths by 8.

90% of the traffic accidents were caused by speeding, and over 40% occurred in the evening, especially from 6pm -12pm.  85% of the total number of accidents occurred on Highways 1A and 14B, and in the inner-city.
