The Vietnam Centre for the Protection of Music Copyright (VCPMC) recently opened its representative office at Hai Chau District’s 121 Nguyen Du Street, Da Nang.

The director of the VCPMC, musician Pho Duc Phuong, said that the new representative office would play a vital role as a pioneer in protecting the legitimate interests of musicians who compose their songs in the city and in Viet Nam in general.  He added that the centre has been opened for the benefit of the community and the nation.  He also stressed the need for the individuals involved to uphold their sense of responsibility and be determined to do all in their power to achieve the above-mentioned purpose.

The VCPMC representive office in Da Nang will take responsibility for protecting copyright in the performance and publication of music.  Musical performances include all types of entertainment at local coffee and karaoke shops, restaurants and hotels, discotheques and bars, supermarkets, shops and other public places.

As for publications, the focus will be on published music and reference books, cds, vcds, dvds, cassettes and other formats.

Established in 2002, VCPMC now has 24 representative offices in many cities and provinces nationwide.
