The Head of the Da Nang Airport Customs Department, Mr Nguyen Thai Hoan, said that a fine of 20 million VND has been imposed on a 23-year-old Vietnamese-born American, Mr Ngo Long Duc Quang, for illegally bringing weapons into Viet Nam. 

Customs officers at the Da Nang International Airport found and seized two 66.5m-long metal blades whilst they were handling the entry procedures for Mr Long.  He was arriving in the city on the evening of 26 August, on flight KE463 from South Korea.  Mr Long brought the 2 blades into Viet Nam without declaring the items at customs, and he had no licence issued by the relevant Vietnamese agencies. 

The case is still under investigation by the city’s police.
