The Chairman of the Hoang Sa Islands District People’s Committee, Mr Dang Cong Ngu, has been honoured for his actions to protect the country’s sea and islands over past years. 

The notable award is part of the Minh Triet programme which was launched by the Minh Triet Cultural Research Centre in August 2013.  Its purpose is to promote research and publicity about the sea and islands at home and abroad.

In addition, Chairman Ngu was presented with a document which features two famous poetic sentences in Han characters (Chinese script) by Dr Nguyen Binh Khiem, also known as Trang Trinh, who was a Vietnamese administrator, educator, poet, sage and, later, a saint of the Cao Dai religion.
