Fishermen expect bumper catches after storm
Published: November 13, 2013
Around 1,838 fishing boats from Da Nang and elsewhere in the central region berthed in the storm shelter at the city’s Tho Quang fishing wharf when super typhoon Haiyan was being predicted to hit the coastal central provinces.
After the typhoon, hundreds of fishing boats have now set sail on their offshore trips. This created a bustling atmosphere over recent days as supplies of fuel, food, fresh water and ice were gathered, and fishing equipment was repairing. All the fishermen believed that their trips would help them earn good profits from bumper catches of fish and shrimps after the storm.
The remaining fishing boats are expected to leave for the rich Hoang Sa fishing grounds over the next few days.
