Flooding causes 101.5 billion VND property damage in Da Nang

Fortunately, no deaths have been reported in the city as a result of this week’s heavy rain and the resultant flooding.  However, there has been extensive damage to property, all adding up to an estimated cost of 101.5 billion VND.  Two houses in Hoa Tien and Hoa Nhon communes have been destroyed and 32,792 others in 19 of the 56 communes have been flooded.  One third of them were in Hoa Vang District, whilst the remainder were in Cam Le, Lien Chieu and Ngu Hanh Son districts.

Damage to the 409 and ADB5 roads in Hoa Vang District has caused traffic problems, 17 electricity poles alongside the ADB5 road have been damaged, and the Da (Rock) Bridge has been badly affected. 

As for agriculture, 83 hectares of vegetables have been waterlogged, 22 hectares of flowers destroyed, 25 hectares of aquaculture ponds badly damaged, and 350 hectares of other agricultural land flooded.  Flooding has killed 44 cattle and 6,300 poultry across the city, and local irrigation systems have been damaged.
