Published: November 09, 2013

According to the Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, super typhoon Haiyan, the strongest storm on Earth this year, is due to hit Da Nang overnight.  It is predicted to pack sustained wind speeds of up to 201kph, with strong gusts of up to 374kph near its centre.  The peak wind speeds are forecast to be around 4am tomorrow morning.

During tomorrow, the storm is expected to continue moving in a westerly or north-westerly direction at a speed of about 35kph, and it will therefore sweep through the central coast provinces.
