At a meeting held in Da Nang on Friday to assess 22 planning projects and their architectural designs, the city’s leaders agreed to the building of a complex alongside the Han River which will include a pier for trip boats and a tourism services area.

The current Da Nang Port area, on the west bank of the river, will be divided into 4 functional zones.  There will be an 11,000m² riverside park, a 7,700m² tourism services area, a 3,592m² passenger pick-up area for trip boats, and a 2,755m² vehicle parking area in front of the Novotel.  Linking these areas will be a 9m-wide riverside pedestrian promenade.

In addition, a trip boat pier, a restaurant and a parking area will be built on an area of 24,500m² at the Thuan Phuoc wharf.

Initial approval has also been given for the Da Nang Housing Development Joint Stock Company (DHC) to build a trip boat pier on the eastern side of the Han River.  The company has pledged that the pier will come into use after a 3-month construction period.
