Da Nang selected to join Resilient Cities Network
Da Nang has been selected to join The Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities Network. The announcement of the first 33 cities selected was made on Tuesday in New York, USA, during The Foundation’s third annual Innovation Forum entitled “Building Resilient Cities.”
The 100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge was launched in May 2013 to mark The Foundation’s centenary. The successful cities were chosen from nearly 400 applicants across 6 continents. Cities were required to submit their visions, needs and plans to build "resilience" in a way that connects government, the private sector and civil society, and specifically addresses the needs of their poor and vulnerable citizens. Cities were selected upon the recommendation of a panel of judges from around the world, including former presidents Bill Clinton and Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria.
100 Resilient Cities Network is dedicated to supporting cities to adopt and incorporate a resilience mindset in their planning, development, and community-building so that they are better prepared for, and can quickly rebound from, 21st century shocks and stresses.
