The Vietnamese Prime Minister has recently approved Da Nang’s master urban plan towards 2030 with a vision to 2050.

Da Nang will strive to become the nation’s most modern city by 2030, and a city specialising in international-standard finance, tourism and technology by 2050.

In 2012, the city’s population was 967,800, 822,630 of whom lived in urban areas.  The total is predicted to rise to 1.6 million by 2020, including 1.3 million in urban areas.

The city will promote the development of urban spaces towards multi-polarity.

The specific focus will be on accelerating the growth of the tourism sector, and developing more resorts, trade and service areas, transportation, and maritime economic centres on the north-west side of the city, along with residential areas of medium population density.

As for the eastern side of the city, top priority will be given to post and telecommunications, healthcare, and the education and training sectors.

Special attention will be paid to developing more hotels, guest houses, villas, parks, restaurants and entertainment areas along the seafront from the Son Tra Peninsula to the Marble Mountains.  In addition, numerous office buildings for lease will be constructed along Ngo Quyen, Ngu Hanh Son and Tran Dai Nghia streets.
